Yes, we are active in New Eden, the sandbox 'universe' of EVE Online. In fact, our very first activities began there almost eleven years ago.
The core members of the Volition Project (VPRO) began their careers as early as 2009 without skill or bearings in the relative safety of the Highsec space lanes of the bigger Empires, be it Amarr, Gallente, Caldari or Minmatar. But it didn't stay that way for long, because for us all, player driven space with their own industries and rules were far more attractive.
So through various paths we got to know each other as members of one of the biggest German industrial corporations of that time, the X-Trading Company (XTC). They were one of the power houses back in the day and performed industrial operations on a scale that was simply baffling. And XTC had their heart of operations deep in nullsec space in the Tenal region and were members of the RAZOR Alliance.
Our beginnings in this megacorporation, like that of every recruit, were humble. We learned how to survive in nullsec space - sometimes the hard way - and we began specialising in mining and complex logistics. After all, there was always much to do and the corporation especially hungered for the rare ores you could only find in these parts of New Eden.
We also began taking one step after another in the corporate ladder up to Directors for Mining and Logistics and later CEO. Along with it, other tasks awaited and that was also the time when the RAZOR Alliance was drawn into one of the biggest struggles of that time.
At that time, however, XTC had already been ten years old and player numbers began to dwindle while handed out Capital Ships and Supercapitals vanished into obscurity. After XTC all but collapsed under the pressure of being evicted from Tenal and due to player inactivity — and after a major corp theft on top of it all — we decided to move on to one of the bigger (and active) PVP corporations in the RAZOR Alliance, Zero T0lerance (-ZET-), where we played a major part in their nullsec industry and logistics again, this time mainly in starbase logistics and jumpfreighter runs into both high security space and to supply the frontline systems.
In order to manage alliance interests in highsec we founded VPRO in February 2012. Soon thereafter the galactic war that was still raging on took center stage as long standing grievances escalated on a scale even veteran capsuleers had rarely seen in New Eden.
After a number of alliance campaigns against all sorts of enemies and the game becoming a time sink we decided to take a break and move away from nullsec and into the relatively quiet region of Kor-Azor in the Amarr Empire. There we established VPRO as an industry and research hub specialising in manufacturing civilian capital ships as well as Tech 2 ship modules.
However, due to real life being what it is our activities over time faded from New Eden and VPRO at last went dormant somewhere in 2014.
"Gwenwin in enninath" - Long years have passed...
But the industry hub still exists today in 2023. Boy, was it really nine years? Anyway, recently we decided to re-establish ourselves in New Eden again and see what those years have done to New Eden and its inhabitants. EVE itself reached its 20th year of operations after all and we were curious whether the sci-fi game had remained true to itself.
So we re-established our stored-away capsuleer pilots and started to reinvigorate our operations. And we started to scout the surroundings and see with our own ocular implants what was going on. And within just six days we found out that peace is still an illusion in New Eden; which is good for an industry corporation like VPRO.
We decided to move away from quiet Kor-Azor and set up shop in the Lonetrek region of the bustling Caldari State. It's there we rebooted our manufacturing lines and started to feed the war machine again. After all, EVE is EVE and the demand for spaceships and ship modules is at an all-time high (again).
So, see you in space, maybe in a ship from one of our dry docks.
